Marty: [surprised] You're alive! [Doc unbuttons his suit to reveal the bulletproof vest] Bulletproof vest? How did you know? I di-I never got a chance to tell you. [Doc reveals the letter Marty wrote in 1955 which has been taped back together] What about all that talk about screwing up future events? The spacetime continuum? Doc: Well, I figured, what the hell?
— Back to the Future, 1985Last week I participated in CalgaryHacks 2022, the annual hackathon hosted by the University of Calgary. I was invited to participate by a friend who was putting together a team for the event, which I was happy to accept and proceeded to invite a friend of my own to round out our group of four.
The hackathon organizers provided a few topics of which each submission must address at least one. We selected the topic: Develop a tool to help people live a healthy lifestyle. Our application, Too Fit to Quit, aims to motivate its users to exercise by providing the functionality to customize their own workout routine, complete with an AI-based Text-to-Speech coach assistant. Like the last hackathon I participated in, we opted to use the Java framework Processing to aid in our time-limited UI implementation, and I feel our project was a success given the fast-pace nature of a hackathon. Here is the link our submission!
